 ABOUT THE PRODUCT To use a Balcan Hypodermic needle DESTRUCTOR it is only necessary to rotate the operating handle to vertically align the orifice hole. Then, holding the sides of the syringe firmly, the needle is inserted up to the butt of the syringe. The operating handle is now pushed downwards to rotate the cutter which, with this one simple action, shears the nib from the syringe and cuts the needle into pieces to render both useless. Once the orifice has been realigned the debris falls into the plastic debris pot underneath. A locking screw secures the pot in position so it cannot be removed accidentally. This pot can hold the equivalent of 250 green hubbed hypodermic needles and when full can be sealed with its yellow-labelled screw-on lid. This is a much safer, easier and cheaper method of disposal because syringes can be put into cheaper yellow sacks for disposal as clinical waste instead of needlessly filling expensive sharps containers. The Medical Devices Agency (MDA) of the Department of Health in London have advised us that because Balcan Hypodermic DESTRUCTORS are not " medical devices", there are no standards with which they need to comply. However, it is recognised that downstream of their use they overcome risks of needlestick injuries caused by whole used needles, remaining fitted to their syringes. All Balcan Hypodermic needle DESTRUCTORS are fabricated of a special hardened stainless steel and have an estimated life to destroy 200,000 needles with the minimum of servicing, apart from cleaning. |
